History

JVC America, Inc. (JAI) is an operating unit of JVC KENWOOD Holdings, Inc., a newly formed joint venture company created by the merger of Victor Company of Japan (JVC) and Kenwood Electronics in 2008. Originally operating under the name JVC Disc America, JAI has been doing business within the United States since April 1987.

Since its inception, JAI has been recognized as a leader in the optical media industry. The CD plant in Tuscaloosa traces its origins to the music industry. Our first customers included MCA, BMG, RCA, and Arista labels.

In the mid-90’s, JAI’s business became increasingly focused on CD and DVD-ROM. Our packaging and fulfillment services arose from customer demand for value-added services that could assist our customers in meeting the ever-changing demands of the retail marketplace.

JAI acquired a reputation as a leading manufacturer of interactive gaming and entertainment software. In 2000, JAI was selected as one of only three authorized replicators of Third Party Microsoft Xbox® games.

The JAI Fulfillment Center in Kennesaw, Georgia opened for business in July 1996. In September 1999, our Fulfillment Center moved to its current 368,000 square foot location providing a full array of custom packaging, order fulfillment, distribution, and reverse logistics services. The facility is uniquely experienced in the packaging of software for all major interactive gaming platforms, including Sony Playstation2® and Playstation3®; Nintendo Wii®, Gameboy® and Dual Screen (NDS)®; and the Microsoft Xbox 360®. JAI is committed to supporting all existing and “next-generation” media technologies.

In 2004, JAI was named Adobe’s Turnkey Vendor of the Year and in 2005 was chosen as Microsoft’s Vendor of the Year.

On July 1, 2008, JAI announced its newest packaging and fulfillment operation with the opening of a 542,000 square foot facility in Douglasville, Georgia.
